Construction Work
Construction Work
Constructions are fabricated sculptures often presented, but not exclusively, in a tableaux form bringing together many specific and particular parts to form a whole.
Being multi-part and often involving all of the spectator’s senses through the use of audio playback and the introduction into the space of pervasive and unsettling smells, these constructions regularly include stuffed animals – monkeys, dogs, rats, birds – in ways that they could be there as surrogates for the presence of the viewer within the scenario.
These works are three dimensional and as stated above incorporate static and real time (lighting, sound and smell) elements, and often adopting traditional sculptural media such as bronze and marble alongside more robust industrial materials.
They are constructed and installed taking into consideration a relationship with the exhibition environment and exhibition context.
